When Women Won the Right to Vote: A History Unfinished | 11 a.m. | Zoom (link sent after registration) | Free
When women won passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, they did not win the right to vote—despite repeated claims that they did. Just what, then, did the woman suffrage amendment do? Clarifying this history, historian Lisa Tetrault positions 1920 as the middle of a much larger story about the pursuit of voting rights, a struggle that is today unfinished and ongoing. Join the Louisiana endowment for the Humanities for a virtual lecture and discussion of the legacies of the Nineteenth Amendment in this centennial year of its passage.

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission is leading virtual exercise classes every day of the week (often two or three times a day). This Saturday morning, this 45-minute class is focused on power yoga, but classes throughout the week are all different. Rosalie Botanicals near Bayou St. John says preventive medicine starts in the kitchen with healing herbs and foods. In this class, they’ll discuss the medicinal benefits of common culinary herbs many of which you (probably) have in your space rack. Participants will also explore the digestive system as the root of health and/or disease and ways in which to use food and herbs to help chronic and acute digestive issues. You’ll learn to make your own traditional fire cider!
