Things are slowly returning to normal, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had online if you’re not quite ready yet! Here are some of the events we’re most looking forward to in Virtual New Orleans this week:

FRIDAY, JULY 10

Marketing Masterclass: How to Nurture Leads with Emotional Intelligence | 9 a.m. | Online (RSVP here for link) | Free

Cardio Blast Live Stream | 10 a.m. | Zoom (link will be sent upon registration) | Free
Join Footprints To Fitness for a free 30 minutes cardio workout in partnership with FitNOLA and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission. The class is designed for all levels so bring the whole family!

Overcoming Uncertainty through Design Thinking | Noon | Zoom | Free
There’s no doubt that entrepreneurs and business leaders have been thrown a few surprises this year. Lauren Seigel and Allison Schiller of Trepwise provide a free, interactive workshop to explore how the principles of a more user-centric approach to business will empower you to pull insights from real-world observations, brainstorm innovative solutions for your business, remain agile in creating and testing solutions and more!

Live FitNOLA Class – Yoga | Noon | Zoom | Free
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission is leading virtual exercise classes every day of the week (often, both, in the evening and during the day). This Friday at noon, the class is focused on yoga, but classes throughout the week are all different. Check out a list of the full offerings here and here to find out when they’ll be leading classes in pilates, yoga, fitness, line dancing, swing, hip hop and much more! Ciné-Club à la Maison: Trois Souvenirs de ma Jeunesse | 2 p.m. | Zoom | Free
Each week during quarantine, Alliance Française of New Orleans hosts a club for lovers of French film. You can watch the movie here ahead of time so you’re ready for the Friday Zoom discussion!

Sounds of Solidarity with Joy Clark | 6 p.m. | Facebook Live | Donations for fundraiser encouraged
Join Live Oak Cafe for some Friday evening music and a healthy dose of empowerment. Joy Clark will be performing an hour-long set, and that will be followed by a voter education session from 7 until 7:30 p.m. The cafe is donating 50% of tips to the Power Coalition, which is dedicated to equipping Louisianians with the knowledge and information they need to find their voice and learn when and where to use it.. You can get 20% off a meal at Live Oak when you donate.

Anders Osborne Presents Southern Mystic Nights! | 6:30 p.m. | Facebook Live | Free
Local superstar Anders Osborne is performing a 90-minute set that will weave a “mystical southern tapestry” of south Louisiana songs and original music. Anders is also featuring his first special guest, percussionist Mike Dillon. Dim the lights, light some candles and listen for the ancient drums, guitars and chants of south Louisiana.

SATURDAY, JULY 11

San Fermin in Nueva Orleans 2020 | 9:30 a.m. | Website (link sent after ticket is purchased) | $20
This year’s Running of the Bulls will be quite different.  Join organizers for some great online fun!  They’ll bring you a bit of the normal in a different format.  The Reverend Psych Ward will bless the fiesta just before 10 a.m.  The featured music performance will be The Crystal Method, who’s putting together a mini set just for us!  The fest will also feature San Fermin favorites Vivaz!, Ven Pa’Ca, Roxie Le Rouge, Disco Amigos, Lucha Krewe and lots more.  So, start working on that Sangria (they’re working on a “How To” video that they’ll post soon), make your plans and get yourself registered for the ZOOM fiesta. Bulbancha is Still a Place | 10:45 a.m. | Zoom | Free
New Orleans was already a place long before the French arrived. Jeffrey Dahrensbourg, author of the book about the city before its discovery by Europeans, “Bulbancha is Still a Place”, will be the speaker. Darensbourg is a tribal councilperson of the Atakapa-Ishak Nation of Indians and a freelance writer, speaker, and editor. He is Editor-Who’s-Not-A-Chief of the zine “Bulbancha Is Still a Place: Indigenous Culture from New Orleans”.

Real Life People United Against Racism | Noon | Zoom (link sent upon Eventbrite registration) | Free
The Real Life People United Against Racism group is open to all people who have a desire to learn about biases and prejudices. The purpose of this group is to increase awareness of the biases we hold toward people of different cultures and ethnicities. Through interaction with other members of the group in an open and organized format, the hope is we’ll better recognize these biases and prejudices when it comes to the way we perceive & treat people of other cultures. This is a 90-minute session and social workers who participate can earn CEUs.

Porch Fest: The Favorites | 4 p.m. | Facebook Live | Donations encouraged
Anais St. John and Harry Mayronne Sr. are back for another round of Saturday tunes. This week, they’ll be performing some of their favorites tunes by the legendary Burt Bacharach during this hour-long set!

Japan-NOLA Jazz Performance Series | 1 p.m. | Instagram Live and Facebook Live | Donations encouraged
Haruka Kikuchi has been in New Orleans since 2014 and has made a name for herself as a superstar trombonist. Watch her perform with Yoshitaka “Z2” Tsuji on keyboard and special guest Nobu Ozaki on bass.

Jazz in the Park (and online) with Sunny Side! | 5 p.m. | Online (they’ll post live feed link here just before the event) | Donations encouraged
Local jazz group, Sunny Side is live streaming from Coliseum Park from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Check them out for some of your favorite classic jazz tunes!

Live Stream Open Mic Night | 7:30 p.m. | Facebook Live | Free
Uptown favorite, The Neutral Ground, is hosting their first live stream event. If you want to sign up for a performance slot at the open mic, send them a note on Facebook Messenger any time on Saturday. The gig itself is on Sunday from 7:30 until 11:30 p.m. (and you don’t have to be performing to listen — they need an audience, too!). You can find more information here.

Sunday Swing Livestream from Allways! | 8 p.m. | Facebook Live | Donations encouraged
The Allways Lounge & Cabaret’s popular Sunday Swing is back — but this time they’re in livestream form! The evening will be hosted by the Royal Street Winding Boys. Join in for some stellar music, and maybe even dust off those dancing shoes!
