I’ll be honest, I’m not a vegan. So, before I began to find the top vegan eats in Orlando, I consulted five of my vegan friends to help make this list. After finding the five common denominators on each of their lists, I set out to sample.
You may be wondering why you should consider my opinion. I mean, I’m an admitted non-vegan. However, because of that, I hope to appeal to not only the vegan who is curious about where to eat vegan food in Orlando but also to those who may want to try vegan while in Orlando.
Ethos Vegan Kitchen
📍 601-B S New York Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789
First on my list hands-down is the Ethos Vegan Kitchen. For the non-vegan like myself, it leaves the nervousness of the food, right at the door. With its open floor space and generous seating, Ethos could be “any restaurant USA,” and that homestyle comfort level only added to the delicious food served. When you open the menu, from the appetizers to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all the choices are of the same selections you would find at any restaurant.
I am a conuseure of meatloaf. When I saw that meatloaf was on the menu, I had to try it and I could not tell the difference. The flavor, texture, and presentation were identical to what I have always ordered from a regular restaurant as I also observed from the entrees around me. If you’re non-vegan and curious, this is your stop in Orlando. If you’re an Orlando vegan you won’t be disappointed.
More Vegan Eats in Orlando to Try
Korgette
📍 609 Irvington Ave, Orlando, FL 32803
If unique dining is your thing, the Korgette vegan food truck in Orlando is the place for you. The only description I can give is “the fun of a food truck in a restaurant setting.” Korgette is not a restaurant, but a food trailer positioned in a restaurant setting. Surrounded by several tables with umbrellas outside, like a food truck, you order your food and bring it to the tables.
It’s fun with a backyard cook-out flare. It was Monday, and evenings and Mondays are “movie night’’ where a sheet is dropped and you can eat and watch a movie for free. When I ordered, Paulo, the owner, suggested I try their specialty, the collard wrap filled with handmade falafels, hummus, black Cuban beans, chipotle, and lime corn. As a new experience for me, the taste was fantastic.
Winter Park Biscuit Co.
📍 3201 Corrine Dr, Orlando, FL 32803
Located in what’s called the East End Market, the Winter Park Biscuit Company shares its place with several other food outlets. There is either bar-seating at the counter or outside dining with benches positioned outside in a garden-like setting. I explained to the young lady behind the counter that I was a non-vegan and she immediately recommended their food sampler box. The sampler consisted of 3 chicken strips, a side of your choice(I chose french fries) and their namesake, the homemade, buttermilk biscuit.
The chicken strips tasted no different than the chicken strips I have ordered in other restaurants. And they were delicious, I might add. The french fries were standard fare, but the buttermilk biscuit was outstanding and not “crumbly” like other places. The sampler was the perfect addition to my vegan introduction. Needless to say, eating in a garden only added to the rich flavor. Curious about eating vegan? Have your taste bud questions answered with the Winter Park Biscuit Company.
Market on South
📍 2603 E South St, Orlando, FL 32803
This vegan restaurant near Downtown Orlando exudes “southern comfort” with the type of vegan offerings it provides. Market on South serves up “vegan vittles.” That’s right. If you’re going to be visiting Orlando, Florida from up North and are vegan you can take part in having yourself some original southern, vegan, cookin’ from the Dharma Southern Kitchen.
Southern delights ranging from “Florida Fried Green Tomatoes on Texas Toast to Biscuits and Gravy all do their finest with representing southern cuisine. Locals love the Market on South as well as I was waiting in line to try the Brew Burger. As a non-vegan and Orlando local, I was right at home. The food was great and the choices amazing. But you decide after you take a look over at the menu.
Leguminati
📍 2401 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL 32806
This vegan restaurant in SoDo is cool. And by “cool,” it has a coffeehouse kind of appeal. And it should. Located inside a Foxtail Coffee, you’ll see open laptops scattered among the tables. Leguminati offers its unique slice of vegan with “taco appeal.” They offer all sorts their own taco-style choices from “Cali-Crunch” with vegan chicken and rice, guacamole, tomato, red onion, spinach on a flour tortilla to chicken and parm cruch(which I had) with vegan chicken and pasta, spinach, tostado, marinara on a flour tortilla. Leguminati is healthy vegan eating without ringing a bell.
