The clock is ticking! Today is the last day to register in order to vote in New Orleans on the Nov. 6 elections, and we all know how important it is for your voice to be heard.
On the upcoming ballot are six constitutional amendments, the Secretary of State race and congressional races.
Constitutional amendments include prohibiting felons from public office and unanimous juries for noncapital felonies. Right now, state law requires 10 of 12 jurors to convict someone charged with a felony.
Orleans Parish voters will also be voting on Civil District Court Judge for Division E, and civil district court clerks. You can view a sample ballot on the Secretary of State’s website to see all of the candidates and races.
To register online, you’ll need a Louisiana driver’s license or a state ID card. Click here to visit the Secretary of State’s website to register.
