This weekend is all about local breweries celebrating with some epic local beer events. We’ve got all the details on where to go and what to drink, but first take note of our upcoming event and a few of our recent stories.
RSVP: Local x Global: Northside
We’ve put together an epic event with Blue Sparrow and Allegheny City Brewing to celebrate the Northside. Join us for a global taste of the neighborhood on June 1.
June 1st is also the Mexican War Streets neighborhood yard sale.
Q&A: Brooke Barker, author/illustrator of Sad Animal Facts and new Pittsburgh resident
Brooke and her husband Boaz have recently moved to Pittsburgh from Portland, with a stop in Amsterdam. Brooke is the artist behind the well known and much loved @SadAnimalFacts website/Instagram account. We asked Brooke about her favorite facts and places in Pittsburgh.
Neighborly Advice: What would Mister Rogers tweet?
In honor of 143 Day, we’ve compiled a list of all the Twitter/Instagram/Facebook accounts to follow for wisdom from Pittsburgh’s favorite neighbor.
Memorial Day Brews
Not only do we have our weekly beer pick — this week it’s the Ginga Wheat from Roundabout Brewery, but we’ve got a list of all of the brewery celebrations to check out this holiday weekend.
Speaking of Roundabout… the Roundabout Pop Up is open on Friday this weekend. Not the usual Sunday. A perfect excuse to take an extended lunch break before the holiday weekend.
Hurry Up and Wait is a brand-new beer collaboration from the folks at Breweries in PA. Proceeds from the beer will benefit the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation. You can find Hurry Up and Wait on tap at Couch Brewery, Burghers and ShuBrew.

Lustra Day 2019 @ Dancing Gnome
5 different versions of Dancing Gnome’s Lustra beer will be available in cans and on draft. Due to popularity, Dancing Gnome limits the number of cans one person can buy. Each Lustra variant will be limited to one, two or three 4-packs (of cans) per person.
Wondering what the difference is between all 5 iterations of Lustra? Below, we’ve listed out each Lustra with its respective strength, measured in ABV (alcohol by volume). Note that ALL the Lustra beers are hoppy American Pale Ales with the exception of Lager Lustra. Which is a lager.
- Half Lustra – 3.6% ABV
- Lustra – 5.8% ABV
- Double Lustra – 8.5% ABV
- Triple Lustra – 11% ABV
- Lager Lustra – 5.8% ABV
