Ruby Slipper Cafe is giving back to government employees facing a hard time, announcing Monday they’re offering free meals to federal employees affected by the government shutdown.
A post on the restaurant’s social media read, “We’re all in this together. If you’re a federal employee affected by the shutdown, stop by any Ruby Slipper Cafe for a free meal. Just present your valid ID badge or business card, and we’ll provide you and your immediate family with a free entree and beverage. 👠❤️”
A representative from the restaurant said it’s their way of giving back to the community that’s been so supportive to them.
“One of our values here is being neighborly,” said Jennifer Martindale, director of marketing. “I think this is just an example of us putting that value into action.”
This isn’t the first time the diner has stepped in to help the community. In October, Ruby Slipper offered free meals to those displaced by Hurricane Michael.
“Like with Hurricane Michael, we have found that the community is grateful and appreciative when we’re able to ease challenging circumstances,” Martindale said.
If you’re planning to take Ruby Slipper up on the offer, you’re asked to bring something that identifies you as a federal employee.
