The cast of Preacher revealed what it was like filming in New Orleans for their latest season at Comic-Con 2018. While cast members Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun and Graham McTavish all said that the season was their first-ever excuse to come to the city, it doesn’t sound like it will be their last. All three actors admitted to being taken by their temporary home.
“I was like Madonna, I was being touched for the very first time by New Orleans,” said Gilgun, who plays the vampire Cassidy the hit AMC show. “It’s wonderful. It’s a character in its own right. It’s a beautiful very unique place. I don’t think there’s anywhere else quite like it.”
“[It’s] very different to any other American city I’ve been to,” McTavish told Los Angeles Times reporter Sarah Rodman. “There’s an edge there.“
“There’s a dark and interesting side to New Orleans,” said the show’s star Cooper. “The music and vibrancy of it all adds to exactly what the show is.”
The cast closed the interview by admitting to partaking in both voodoo and cannabis in the city. Check out the video here and for more nerdery in city limits, don’t miss our piece on how New Orleans’ plays into Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.
