Kermit Ruffins is shooting a new video for a New Orleans Saints song tonight and he’s invited any Who Dats who can make it out to come be a part of the video. The trumpeter and longtime fixture at 7th Ward spots like Bullet’s and Mother-In-Law Lounge is set to film later this evening.
Ruffins posted an open call to Twitter, asking for fans to come out in their best Black and Gold attire.

The message was boosted by local jazz label Basin Street Records, who have released all of Ruffins records since launching their label with Ruffins’ 1998 live album with the Barbecue Swingers quintet.

They added that the show will be providing free red beans and rice to anyone who shows up. It is still Monday, video or no.
Ruffins has run the famous lounge along Claiborne Avenue since he re-opened the spot in 2014. Originally owned by R&B eccentric and Master of the Universe Ernie K. Doe, the bar was run by his wife Antoinette until she passed away from a heart attack on Mardi Gras Day in 2009.
