Happy Father’s Day to all the Pittsburgh Dads. We’re giving a hat tip to Dad Beers this week – we picked 15 of our locally-brewed faves you can scoop up for this weekend – along with a nod to Pittsburgh-based artists you can shop online. Also happening this weekend is the annual commemoration of Juneteenth – which will be marked with a number of events around town.

Our podcast guest this week will take you stand-up paddleboarding along the rivers AND guarantees he can get you to stand (as a guide, he carries a perfect track record). We’ve also got a sneak peek at Redhawk Coffee’s roaster/cafe combo that’s expected to open this summer in Sharpsburg.

Our guest on this week’s edition of The Slaw is Ian Smith of SurfSUP Adventures. As founder and lead guide of the stand-up paddleboarding organization, Smith is passionately tuned in to Pittsburgh rivers. On paddleboarding during the uncertainty of COVID, he says: “Once we’re out on the water, it’s natural separation. You’re feeling the glide and cruising a safe distance from others.”
