Hometown Tragedy: A Single Father’s Life Saving Last Act

STREAMING NOW! Single father Kendal Fenwick is the 295th homicide in Baltimore in 2015. Family and investigators wonder whether his efforts to curb drugs and violence in his neighborhood made him a target. Or is it something else entirely?

Kendal Fenwick, a 24-year-old single father, bought and renovated a house in the Park Heights neighborhood of Baltimore. Hoping to create a safe place for his three young children to play, he started building a fence around his home to prevent drug dealers from crossing his property.

So when Fenwick was murdered mere steps from his home on Nov. 9, 2015, Park Heights residents, law enforcement, and local leaders demanded justice for the city’s 295th murder victim.

“Kendal was always there to protect his children from whatever was going on, you know? So that’s the hardest part of this whole situation, that they don’t have their father anymore,” said Tanya Fenwick, Kendal Fenwick’s mother.

What police discovered was that Kendal could have been one of many murder victims that night had he not acted heroically.
