Earlier this year, we introduced our readers to Mimi’s Modern; a lowkey lobby bar in downtown Pittsburgh (with an awesome happy hour).
Well, the team behind Mimi’s (and Market St Grocery) is ready to share their latest endeavor – a warm, welcoming and slightly elevated pop-up bar in Market Square.
And by slightly elevated, we mean quite literally – it’s on the second floor.
Located at 435 Market St, you can now visit The Holiday House; a winter holiday pop-up bar that is one floor above The Wine Bar at Market Street Grocery.
What to Know Before You Go
According to managing partner Rachel Priselac, The Holiday House was thoughtfully designed as a “holiday party you don’t have to clean up after.”
“We love being here in Market Square, but sometimes it’s nice to remove yourself from all the craziness,” Priselac explains. “Our fireplace gives the space a warm, ski lodge vibe and the furniture is arranged with a sense of home.”
Instead of firm “sections” at Holiday House, guests will note a more fluid space that allows for mingling and moving about.
“At peak capacity, we can hold about 100 people,” Priselac says. “Guests can order right from the bar and we’re first come, first served. No need to make reservations.”

How to Enter the Holiday House
Guests have a few different options on navigating their way into Holiday House.
The most obvious way: walk into Market St Grocery and continue through the grocery section like you’re headed to The Wine Bar. Bear left at the glass door (into the foyer) and take the elevator up to the 2nd floor.
You can also enter through the (subtle) dedicated door on Market Street. Just follow the stairwell straight up and enter Holiday House on the 2nd floor.
Finally, guests arriving from the rear of the building can enter off Graeme Street. Walk into the back door of Market St Grocery and take the elevator straight up to the 2nd floor.
What’s on the Menu at Holiday House?
Folks familiar with The Wine Bar inside Market St Grocery will note that they ONLY serve local spirits. This is not the case at Holiday House.
“Alongside our local spirits, we are serving some organic wines along with seasonal cocktails and beer,” Priselac says. “We also plan to roll out small plates – including charcuterie and snacks – very soon.”
Holiday House is furnished with four functioning taps. One is already dedicated to a rotating selection from Arsenal Cider. The other three will eventually serve beer from local breweries. The team also plans to slowly add more cocktails to the growing drink menu.
An Extended Sneak Peek – Holiday House (after the holidays)
Stay tuned as Market St Grocery continues to build out, furnish and activate the Holiday House space in 2020.
“After the holiday season ends, we plan to change the name and menu as we scale this up to a full bar concept,” Priselac explains. “Guests can expect tableside service, a full food menu, a more robust beer and cocktail offering and more artwork too.”
One cozy element that Holiday House does NOT plan to change…
“Oh, no doubt – we’re definitely keeping the fireplace right where it is.”
