Edison's coffee

Edison’s hits the spot with java, artisanal coffee & tea mocktails, sweet treats

Just in time for National Coffee Day, Edison’s Espresso and Tea Bar has turned its light on in The Pythian Market.

The new coffee spot is owned by Dee Hall, who also owns Dee’s Coffee, which was opened eight years ago by her father. Edison’s serves everything sure to hit the spot, give you a jolt or be just the pick-me-up you need.

Named for both her father’s middle name and as a nod to Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb (the carbon filament of which was invented by African-American inventor Lewis Latimer), Edison’s can be the “bright” spot in anyone’s day.

The menu at Edison’s includes both hot and cold coffee beverages, matcha and even fresh squeezed orange juice. What sets Edison apart from other coffeeshops is its artisanal coffee and tea non-alcoholic cocktails and sweet bites.

Three of the mocktails have positive, fun names like “What Hangover?,” “The Grass Is Greener” and “Looking Through Rose-Colored Glasses” The fourth cocktail offering is called “The Latimer,” an homage to the inventor.

Dee’s sweet treats include pastries, delicious macarons and a dessert board of dried figs, eclairs and other yummy bites. We tried the chocolate macarons, and they seemed to melt in your mouth. They would be a perfect complement to a latte and are not overly sweet, but you could forego a little sugar in your coffee if you try this pairing.

Like Dee, the coffee at Edison’s is bold, yet unassuming. It brings you in and gives you what you needed at that moment. The coffee comes from local roastery, Coast Roast, and the taste is simple and satisfying.

Just like she playfully wrote on this cup, Dee knows her coffee, cocktails and dessert boards bring the de-caffeinated, downtrodden, and sweet tooths to the Market. So, she’ll see you there.
