The key to yard sale and thrifting success is getting up reaaaaaaally early to make sure you have first dibs on the best stuff. So you can mark your calendar and set an alarm as soon as possible, we compiled this list of some of the best Pittsburgh neighborhood yard sales this season (and will continue to add to this list as more are announced). What makes a sale one of the best? If it’s a reliable source of quality used items, some quirky finds, and great prices, of course. As an added bonus, we’re suggesting some spots to refuel with food, coffee, or beer AFTER you’ve made your rounds. Plus, remember, bathroom access is always key.
Regent Square Yard Sale
Saturday, May 18, 2019
Plus: Books, Beer, Plants, and Dogs at Wilkins Community Center
More info: Facebook event
Where to eat or drink afterward: We suggest you hit the residential spots first, then make your way to the Wilkins Community Center for your plants and books (and beer). Square Cafe is great, but almost always packed. If you are short on patience, we recommend a breakfast burrito from El Burro instead.

Mexican War Streets Neighborhood Yard Sale
Saturday, June 1, 2019
More info: Facebook event
Very Local Event: Local x Global Northside
After the yardsale, we are hosting a very special Northside inspired event. We’re bringing the Blue Sparrow food truck to Allegheny City Brewing. For $12 you can get a Northside inspired sandwich and a beer.
So what exactly is a global Northside sandwich?
Here is what @bluesparrowpgh is cooking up for Sat:
🥪It's a kielbasa, house kraut, mustard, and hot pepper cheese pressed sandwich seared in kimchi butter.https://t.co/6n3M8zEFAU— Very Local PGH (@VeryLocalPGH) May 30, 2019
Where to eat or drink afterward: In addition to a ton of vintage finds, the Mexican War Streets yard sale has an entire lineup of local food and drink options to refuel after you score (my personal best: a entire 70-piece set of Rogers Bros. “Adoration” silverware in its original storage case for $25. Worth: $80+).
Federal Galley is close by, so you can also cross North Ave. for four unique restaurant concepts (and bathrooms!) under one roof.
(Or, if you really want to #livelikeanorthsider, do what I do and go get the chicken and biscuits from Brugge on North. Then walk home and take a nap surrounded by your purchases.)
Brookline Yard Sale

More info: Facebook event.
Where to eat or drink afterward: Brookline Blvd has several great options for a quick bite to eat. Grab a taco at Las Palmas or stop at Pitaland for some Meditteranean fare.

Point Breeze Neighborhood Yard Sale
Saturday, September 21, 2019
More info: Point Breeze organization website. https://www.pointbreezepgh.org/yardsale.html
Where to eat or drink afterward: Similar to their Northside counterparts, the Point Breeze yard sale also boasts a food truck roundup at St. Bede Church. Plus, a used book sale.
Hidden Treasures Rummage Sale Troy Hill
Second Saturday of the Month from March to December
More info: Most Holy Name of Jesus website.
Where to eat or drink afterward: This is not breaking news, but Pear & the Pickle has the best breakfast sandwich in the city. It’s a much-improved version of the egg and cheese on a roll I used to buy from a NYC street cart when I was late to class many, many years ago (this is not a coincidence, owners Bobby and Alexis spent some time in Brooklyn).
Even more bargain hunting near the ‘Burgh
A little bit of a drive, but totally worth it: Flea-tique
More info: Allegheny-Kiski Valley Historical Society website.
The Allegheny-Kiski Valley Historical Society hosts an outdoor flea market for antiques and collectibles on the third Sunday of each month May-October. Held on the grounds of the Tour-Ed Mine, it costs $3 cash to park (in a field, so keep that in mind if it’s rainy). We recommend bringing your own coffee from home, but make sure to stop by the Vibo’s Bakery tent for fried dough and pepperoni rolls.
Garfield Garage Sale @ Workshop PGH
Unconfirmed as of 4/1/2019
Last year, Workshop PGH held a “Garfield Garage Sale” on the fourth Sunday of the month, with 12 different vendors that were a mix of garage sale, handmade, vintage and more. Plus, Pigeon Bagels. Fingers crossed they do it again.
