Whether you are taking a break from drinking for the month or just looking to try something new, this week we are highlighting breweries that also have non-alcoholic options and a new coffee shop in Lawrenceville.

BRUNCH: ‘Sunny Side Up’ winter edition at Brew Gentlemen (Jan 19)
Our monthly brunch pop-up moves INDOORS for winter. Join us on Sunday, Jan 19 at Brew Gentlemen in Braddock for ‘Sunny Side Up’ featuring Pittsburgh Sandwich Society. We’ll be doing seatings at 10 am and 11 am (with walk-ups welcome after 12 pm). Grab your pre-sale ticket to guarantee your spot and we’ll see ya next Sunday!

PODCAST: Hitchhiker’s Melissa Larrick
In Episode 10 of our podcast, “The Slaw: Staying on Top of Pittsburgh,” Aadam chats with Melissa Larrick, taproom manager at Hitchhiker Brewing in Sharpsburg. Larrick is also very involved with the Pink Boots Society’s Pittsburgh chapter. The women’s beer professional organization elevates the role of women in beer through networking and education.

COFFEE: Welcome to Lawrenceville, Convive
Convive Coffee Roastery has expanded its Pittsburgh footprint to include a lovely Lawrenceville shop. Folks familiar with Convive may remember it from their McCandless Crossing shop (off McKnight Road). The owners plan to continue roasting beans in-house AND delivering a fresh batch of pastries (daily) to Lawrenceville from their kitchen in McCandless.

DRY JANUARY: Guide to Non-Alcoholic Drinks at Breweries

NPR’s 2020 Slingshot Artists to Watch list features Pittsburgh’s own Sierra Sellers. A female neo-soul singer who draws inspiration from artists like India.Arie, Erykah Badu, and Beyonce, Sellers performed over 70 shows in 2019. Her EP is expected to drop in March.

For just $9, you can see The Real Sea (dream pop, shoegaze, indie rock, folk and math rock) and Natural Rat (West Virginia doom pop with a heavy Indiana Jones influence) perform at the Brillobox.

Sunday // January 12

Cooking Class @ Thai Me Up

Learn to cook with Chef Piyo and Chef Wasana at Thai Me Up on the South Side. There will be two classes offered at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. $40/person.
