Orlando Cheap Date Ideas
In this episode, couples are challenged to create dates with these four themes:
- Do a Good Deed
- Visit the Milk District
- Shop Local
- Late Night Vibes
Good Deed
As the go-to pet experts, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, does good things for dogs and cats and the people who love them. Laurameghan and Trace choose to volunteer at the oldest and largest nonprofit animal welfare agency in Central Florida. They don’t just take in the animals, but they also provide shelter and care in order for them to find their new home.
Tuesday and Katie visited the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey to volunteer their time. The Birds of Prey Center is an environmental center based on the rescue and rehabilitation of birds of prey, such as raptors, eagles, hawks and owls. Additionally, Audubon works to protect land, water and wildlife and is dedicated to the conservation of the species, efforts to preserve the Everglades, coastal bird habitats and other special places.
Visit the Milk District
If you want to try something that’s different than the same old boring sandwiches then Bad As’s Sandwiches is the place to be. Starting as a food truck and selling only four different sandwiches, it has expanded to 120 sandwiches. Watch Laurameghan and Trace enjoy one of the creative made from scratch sandwiches.
Being vegan in Orlando may be challenging, but not to worry, Korgette is the place to be. Tuesday and Katie visited the food truck and although they had a hard time choosing, you can’t go wrong with anything you get here. They offer globally inspired, vegan street food that tourists and locals alike frequent. Ranging from the world famous falafels to the build-your-own fusion bowls, everything is made from scratch.
Shop Local
Tuesday and Katie stop by Flourishing Cousins, an idea that was created by two cousins, and is now a small business that sells plants at the Orlando Farmers Market. From succulents to indoor plants to hanging baskets, they have a variety of plants to choose from and if they don’t have it they will find it for you.
Even before you step in the door, you know just by the name that this small business is going to be awesome. Hellcats USA is a designer goods brand created by a husband and wife duo that designs everything in house. They make paper goods, accessories, candles that have a darker edge to them. Right up Laurameghan and Trace’s alley.
Late Night Vibes
Laurameghan and Trace hang out at Uncle Lou’s, an entertainment hall that showcases music. This dive bar provides a place for all, young and old, to come and enjoy all different types of music. Being in the community for 16 years, this place is a staple for the music community in Orlando.
Wally’s Bar and Liquors has been around since 1954 and is Orlando’s oldest bar, but is also a liquor store. This dive will have an eclectic mix of people — the nighttime is more of a club with the younger generation jamming to music and in the daytime is where you will find the diehard regulars that have been around since the 50s and 60s. Tuesday and Katie unwind with a couple of drinks after their whirlwind day.
