In case you didn’t hear, Sunday was National Oyster Day. While the decision to put a holiday celebrating everyone’s favorite bivalve at the time of year where the water is at its hottest left us scratching our heads, the mere mention of oysters set our stomachs to grumbling.
So, with ourselves and our readers in mind, we’ve compiled a few of the best places to get your raw oyster fix.
Basin Seafood

This comfy Southern charmer on Magazine Street sells down-south-priced oysters on Monday.
From 3 to 10 p.m., they’re just 50 cents a piece.
Cooter Brown’s

Cooter Brown’s is known for a lot of things. Their extensive beer selection is one. Their even larger TV collection is another. But get down to the Riverbend bar on Tuesdays after 3 p.m. and you might find a new favorite thing about this uptown institution: raw oysters for $8 a dozen.
The Blue Crab

Very few of the places we’ve pointed out also come with a view. This no-fuss eatery lies right along Lake Pontchartrain and ample patio seating makes it perfect for a relaxed date night. Get there early and oysters are 60 cents a piece. Happy hour runs 4-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday-Friday.
The Blind Pelican

This might just be the best deal in the city. From 4-8 p.m. every single day, this bar & restaurant offers $3 for a dozen raw oysters, so long as you buy a drink. Proper oysters should be salty enough to make you thirsty anyway.
Le Bon Temps Roule

Okay, we have one better. LBTR offers free oysters to everyone during their Friday night piano set. Offered until they run out. It starts at 7 p.m. and don’t hesitate.
