Kevin Hart is awarding scholarship money to help four local college students. Through his Help from the Hart charity, the actor and comedian provided scholarships to three students at Xavier University and one at Dillard.
Freshman Lauryn Williams, junior Daja Brooks, junior Mack Williams and junior Jamaya Wilson will all receive a piece of the $600,000 scholarship program. Hart teamed with the United Negro College Fund and the Knowledge Is Power Program to distribute 18 scholarships to students attending historically black colleges or universities.
All of the students gathered for a photo-op with Hart recently.

Hart’s contribution is merely the latest example of a celeb helping a New Orleans student achieve their higher-ed goals. Beyonce awarded a $25,000 scholarship to Xavier student Allana Barefield earlier this year.
And if you’re looking for local kids doing it for themselves, look no further than Darrin Francois. The soon-to-be college freshman netted millions of dollars in scholarships and over 90 acceptance letters earlier this year. He’s using his skills to educate others with a new book called College Cash Magnet.Univers
