Plenty of ordinary men tried out, but only a few had the extraordinary moves to make it on to what might be the city’s most-famous dance krewe. The 610 Stompers spent weeks figuring out who would make the cut and join their raucous, mustachioed step routines, and they just announced the 15 men who made the cut.
“After hours and hours of deliberations, we finally have a new 610 rookie class,” the group wrote on Facebook along with a photo album of the newest members. “Let’s welcome our Year 10 Stompers to the family. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to try out and cheer on their men. We couldn’t do what we do without you!”

The 15 men all received praise for making the cut, but the standout was Jason Homer. Homer, who is paralyzed from the waist down, has been a bit of a mini-sensation all throughout the audition process and it shows. His welcome photo is the most commented-on by far, with well-wishers heaping congrats on the group’s latest member.
He told WWL that he was drawn to the group when he saw the charitable work that they did. As for the dancing, he was more than ready.
“When I seen these guys dancing I was like, ‘You know what? I can do that,” he told the station.
