Wednesday, when Beyonce’s new film “Homecoming” hit Netflix, it chronicled cultural moment years in the making.
NOLA Twitter went wild over DJ Jubilee’s “Get it Ready” being included on Queen Bey’s cover of Maze feat. Frankie Beverly’s classic “Before I Let Go.” But that’s the only time in the live album she used the classic New Orleans bounce track.
It’s also included in her live version of “Get Me Bodied.” At 3 minutes and 15 seconds into the song, you can hear DJ Jubilee again chanting “get it ready, get it ready ready.,” If you’re watching the film, this is the part where she brings out her sister (and now New Orleans resident), Solange to dance with her.
From the time Bey hits the stage, the horn-heavy “Welcome” sounds like something you’d hear a brass band playing at a second-line across the city.
Legend Master P is even heard on the album with his 1996 song “Bout It Bout It 2” weaving in and out of “I Been On,” where Les Twins dance during the live performance.
