A Bottomless Mimosa Brunch Guide to New Orleans: the ultimate turn up

by Angelique Dyer | January 30, 2020

Even as a little girl, brunch with my family was my favorite thing. I loved the brightness of brunch, how it was not quite breakfast or lunch, and I had choices. The women in my family always wore their best dresses and everyone just seemed to give off this carefree vibe, if just for a few hours of fried chicken, waffles, and an omelet station.

But brunch as a legal adult? Now, that’s the bee’s knees right there. It’s still bright, I still wear my best dresses and I still have choices. And I get to indulge responsibly in my all-time favorite thing:

BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS.

Plain and simple, if you’ve got bottomless mimosas on your menu, I’ll be there with my squad. At least twice a month, a friend is in my DMs asking what’s the best place for bottomless mimosas. You asked, I deliver, babies. Here are some of my favorite places to indulge responsibly on bottomless whatever! Please, friends, be responsible with your mimosas and plan to take an Uber or Lyft back home. Don’t put yourself and others at risk. DUIs are not fun, accidents aren’t either, and I want you around to experience another brunch, OK, pumpkin?

Apolline

Let’s start with the place I gratefully call my “Brunch Home Base.” Apolline on Magazine Street is my actual go-to brunch spot and feels like home when you walk in and everyone, even the chef knows your name. Aside from the perfect smoked pork enchiladas, Apolline offers the kind of bottomless mimosas the waitress enjoys serving to your table. You can get a mimosa with orange juice, grapefruit juice, or cranberry juice (shout out to the Poinsettia Hive!) for $18. Apolline’s bottomless is one of those situations where, if you’re not paying attention, you will lose count of just how many you’ve had. You take five sips in between talking about who the snake is on Real Housewives of Atlanta, and here comes the waiter to keep the glass full. This place is also go-cup friendly and makes sure you leave with a full one.

Basin Seafood and Spirits

Further down Magazine is a seafood heaven called Basin Seafood and Spirits. There you can indulge in oysters all kinds of ways and $15 bottomless mimosas. This place serves the mimosas of the light-skinned variety. You know what I’m talking about – more champs than OJ – which is the actual formula for a perfect mimosa. It’s math, duh. Go to Basin Seafood with a group of friends – trust me on this, you won’t regret it or the bottomless.

DTB

A little Riverbend bottomless situation happens at DTB, another favorite for their food, drinks, bomb soundtrack during brunch, and did I mention the food? DTB enjoys the $15 carafe life, letting diners pace themselves on their own time, stopping by to refill as necessary. This is another spot with a variety of mimosa fixins. During the summer, they offer watermelon mimosas (OMG SO GOOD) and have all types of fruit juices on deck to quench your thirst.

The Country Club

Ah, The Country Club – a classic hub for fun, food, and drinks. If you’ve managed to book a table six months in advance for the drag brunch, you already know it’s the place to be for shimmies to Diana Ross, crazy-good chicken and waffles, and serious bottomless mimosa operation. Clocking in at $18, the bottomless at The Country Club provides that perfect razzle-dazzle to an already sparkling brunch. The drinks flow before, during, and after the drag show… and sometimes, you’re dancing with a queen and you turn around and boomshakalaka, there’s another mimosa for you. Again, another squad goals brunch.

Lula Restaurant Distillery

Yes, I know we’ve been talking about bottomless mimosas but I want to take a little trip back Uptown to a place called Lula Restaurant Distillery. Sure, they sell mimosas if that’s your jam but if you want to take your brunch to the next level and maybe test the limits of your college days, they have a $20 bottomless VODKA bar, y’all. They make their own vodka in-house, and it’s by far the smoothest I’ve ever tried. The bar has all the fixins you could ever dream of to make just about whatever you want – vodka and OJ one trip, Bloody Mary another trip, or my favorite – vodka and cranberry with a little splash of orange juice and a squeeze of lime. I didn’t think I’d survive, considering I haven’t indulged in vodka since college, but it was a graceful detour from my regular brunch libations.

So, for my friends in my DMs or on the streets looking for the right bottomless brunch set-up for your life, I hope you find the one that works for you. This list could go on and on but we’ve got things to do, like finish that last glass of mimosa.

Cheers!
